TYPES OF BUILDINGS.

Define the building as ‘any structure for whatsnever purpose and of whatsoever materlais constructed and every part thereof whether used as human habitation or not and includes foundations, plínth, walls, floors, roofs, chimneys, plumbing and building services, fixed platforms, verandah, batcony cornice or projection, pan of a building or any thing affixed thereto or any walt enclosing or inended to endose any land or space and signs and outdoor display structures’. Tents, shamianas and tarpaulm shelters are not considered as building.

According to ihe National Building Code of India (1970), Buildings are classified, based on occupancy, as follows:

Group A : Residential bulldings.
Group B : Educational buidings.
Group C : Institutional buildings.
Group D : Assembly buildings.
Group E : Busincss buildings.
Group F : Mercantile buildings.
Group G : Industnal buildings.
Group H : Storage buildings.
Group J  : Hazardous buíldings.
